Winter is coming

Winter is just around the corner, and it is soon time for the Stealth office to hit the road again. I’ve been dreaming a lot about my VW during the last couple of months. It is not that I don’t enjoy my summer car, but I build up a lot of plans for the stealth office to be in use again.

Since the car has to be inspected before it can get on registration plates again, I’ll have to book some time at the local mechanics. The plan is that this will happens in the beginning of October. Then later in October, I’m planning to rebuild a bit on the inside of the office. Since I was in a hurry building the inside of the office last year, I had to cut some corners. Hence there is a few things I’ll have to improve.

Also I still have a plan to build in a battery supply in the car. The idea was that it should be possible to run a TV screen, and perhaps even some electrical heating. I already have the inverter ready for this, but I need to also by some batteries that meets the criteria for this.

Although also other issues has come up. During the summer, I been working a little with virtual reality. Just for fun, let’s say that I instead of improving the inside of the office, just put on a couple of virtual reality glasses. Then actually I would be able to work (in VR) from where ever in the world I wanted. I could be working from a big yacht in the pacific ocean, or from the top of the empire state building. The technology is already there, and there is a lot of videos for that already on youtube. The only thing left, is how to implement the laptop screen into the virtual world. I found several solutions where that should be possible, but I haven’t got it to work yet. But perhaps when I got the time for that, I will spend a little time building a solution for this.

Who would not like that?

I’ll admit, my office looks nothing like this one, it was just a picture I found on the internet. 

But come on… Who would not like to work from that office? Just see you self sitting there working without any disturbers… Or is it just me? Do you need to be a workaholic entrepreneur with a stupid relation to work, to see how great this is?

Summer is coming

Well just around the corner, summer is coming. That means that my wonderful stealth office is soon to be put away until it becomes winter again. As you might remember, I have an old Mercedes cab I’m driving in the summer time, and my stealth office is actually only to be used as a substitute.

But I’m actually a bit sad, I really come to love this old car. It is the freedom to work wherever it pleases me, and I don’t want to be without this freedom. I was actually thinking about selling my Mercedes, and keeping my stealth office on the wheel in the summer time instead. Although I actually also love my old Mercedes. What a luxury problem to have…. I have two cars and I love them both.

Well let’s see what the end is going to be. One thing is for sure though, the stealth office was a prove of concept thing. But now I can say for sure that the concept is working.

Oh what a shitty day

I knew something was not totally good with the steering. Once and a while a “klonk” sounded from the right front wheel, but I thought, well as long as it makes sounds, it will hold together. Boy was I wrong.

So one day one my way to work, I lost the front wheel on my beloved stealth office. Luckily I had a subscription to a company that could pick up my car and drive it to the shop. It turned out that the wheel baring was broken. Now the car is again fixed and on the road.

I’m so happy nothing seriously happened, and my stealth office is again in for use. I really love my office. A lot has happened on the inside interior, and I will show you in a later post.

Stealth office - First day

Of course I have a lot of plans for how to build the inside of my new stealth office. But winter came early in Denmark. Already this weekend the first snow came, and hence since I did not want my old cabriolet to drive in the snow and salt, I had to take my new stealth office into use. The office hat not at all been rebuild yet, so I had to do something else.

I placed an old camping table inside the car, together with an old office chair. This means that my office is now actually ready to use, but not at all build like I planned it. But since I could now use it, I already today have had the first couple of hours working in the car. It was a bit cold, since still no heat in the car, and also the curtains is missing, making the car not totally stealth when I’m inside the van. But I could work, and I did so.

Some people might ask why the hell I did not spend the day fixing the car to be ready instead. But first priority is my business. When there is something I can work on regarding growth on my company, this is my first priority. I cannot afford to spend a whole day away. Growth is much more important.

Well anyway, spend my first couple of hours working from the car today. As mentioned a bit cold, and could not work longer than the battery had power on my laptop. But it worked, and I’m for sure ready to have a lot more days like this one.

Welcome to Stealth office

Normally i drive an old convertible as summer car. But I don’t dare to expose it for the Danish winter, with all the salt and snow. Therefore every year I buy an old car with a few months left, and use it as a winter car. Earlier it has been an old Renault, Nissan or even a couple of old Mercedes. But this year I wanted to try something different. Therefor I bought an old VW who earlier was transportation for an HWS company.

I wanted to realize the thought of a mobile office. I’m working as entrepreneur and have a few web shops, two of the web shops is kontorartikler.nu and billigEmballage.dk. Therefor I spend a lot of time doing online marketing, and other kind of work needed. Also I try hard to be a caring family dad, and then you really need to be efficient whenever you have just a little time to spare for work. Therefor I wanted to try out a mobile office so that I could be efficient even on the road. If I have time in between meetings or other stuff, then I have my office nearby, and can always attend to it when possible.

This was a little bit of a project, actually more a “proof of concept” thing. Therefor the car is purchased extensively cheap, and only has 7 more months on the road before it has to be killed. But if it turns out that I’m going to be happy about my new office, then I’ll later on buy a more expensive van for this.
